Online safety tips

In this post we will talk about Tipps to be safe on social media, in this case INSTAGRAM.

What is instagram?
Instagram is a social networking app make for sharing photos and videos from a smartphone.
Similar to Facebook or Twitter, everyone who creates an Instagram account has a profile and a news feed. When you post a photo or video on Instagram, it will be displayed on your profile. Other users who follow you will see your posts in their own feed. Also, you'll see posts from other users who you choose to follow.
Just like other social networks, you can interact with other users on Instagram by following them, being followed by them, commenting, liking, tagging and private messaging. You can even save the photos you see on Instagram.

Here is a  video to explain how to stay safe on instagram:

Creating an account on Instagram

First you donload the app. Then you click on create an account, you can sing up with your facebook account or by your email. All you need is an username and a password. Photo Sharing

You can take pictures with the app or use photos that already exist in your camera. You can give your photo a title, which is helpful and fun. Photos can be shared, not only on Instagram, but also Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Posterous and Tumblr. You can also connect with your foursquare account and tag your photos with location. Photos are public on Instagram. If you want people to have to ask permission before they follow you, set to private.

Password
Make sure your password is not to obvious.
If your password is:

* 12345
* (your kids name)
* Password
* Your pet name
* Always the same one.

You should better change it!

Tools learned during first term

There are many social networks, for example:

  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Snapchat
  • Youtube
  • Whatsapp
  • Spotify
  • Instagram
  • Google
  • Skype
  • Pinterest
  • Yahoo
  • Wikipedia

Google is the most used social network in the World, because when you need to find information of X thing, you search in Google. Whatsapp is one of the most used social networks in the world, because it is used by kids, teenagers and adults. Instagram is most used by teenagers. You can post thousands of photos or videos, make live videos, or add an Instagram Story, but this only appears for 24 hours, and then it disappears. You can make your account private or not. YouTube is most used by teenagers, but adults use it too. In YouTube you can post videos and make live videos.

Here are the photos in HD. We choose the first and the third photo because we think that they show advantages and disadvantages of the Internet, and in the second photo appear the social networks that we use.

First paragraph:

On the Internet there are many things that you will always need, for example:
  • Passwords
  • Adresses
  • Websites
  • Register
  • Information

Those elements are safe, also, they aren´t the bad things that the social networks have. But, unfortunately, in Internet there are bad things, for example:
  • Hackers
  • Fakes
  • Scams
  • Virus
  • No face-to-face contact
  • Cyber Crime or Cyber Bullying

Those things are the “bad face” of the Internet. You need to be safe.

Second paragraph:

If you want to stay safe in Internet you need to always use passwords, preferably a PIN code, not a pattern. When you use a pattern and you see sideways on the cell phone, you can easily guess the pattern, because there are two possibilites to type it.
If you use a PIN code of 4 numbers, with the light and seeing the cellphone sideways you can see what the person type, but you doesn´t know the order.
